Following up on our last model featured “The Madison” designed by Sonya Kinkade Design and Modecor we welcome you to The Hudson. The Hudson starts us off on our journey through the Town homes.
At the very moment when we were brainstorming about themes for the Townhomes, I was planning my first trip to France with my husband. I posted a photo collage below on a blog post I wrote regarding the upcoming trip…..and from that moment on, the collage became my inspiration for this entire house.
What did we change?
- For the floor plan of The Hudson, we decided on a larger island that would be counter height rather then a raised bar area as shown on the floor plan.
- We also thought it would be fun to change up the designated area’s on the floor plan. We decided to divide the living room area into both the dining and living room and use the dining room area as a cozy sitting room beyond to the kitchen.
If you look above at my original inspiration collage, you can see that colouring through our finishes with the texture of the stone, the cream, greys and browns of the cheese and pastries. The flooring we chose was a beautiful wide planked red oak floor that has a feeling of old world to it. The cabinetry would combine a painted Latte and walnut very much in keeping with the mixing of finishes in a french home.
For the walls, we thought we would keep a soft and subtle cream colour throughout and use a lovely grey/purple for feature area’s that would remind us of the beautiful lavender fields of Florence. When it came down to the fabric, we started with one piece that I had found online. It was the perfect fabric to jump off of and plays a key roll in the design of The Hudson.
And from our Tres Chic fabric, a story board of fabric was born.
The lighting in this house was sooooo much fun to do and gave you a taste of Parisian style.
Welcome to The Hudson
